Veterans’ Committee

The Veterans’ committee met at the VA Hospital in North Chicago on October 1, 2007. Bingo was the activity of the day. Prizes in the amount of $50.00 were distributed among the 30 veterans attending. There were 27 men and 3 women playing Bingo. Committee members assisting the veterans were Betty Schneider, Allene Nelson, Shirley Simek, Susan Knudson, Claudia Smith, and Delores Faltynek. Following Bingo, refreshments of ice cream, cookies, and soda were served. At the end of the Bingo session the Director of Activities at the VA Hospital came down and told the committee how much the veterans look forward to our coming, and that the activity we provide is an invaluable contribution to the total welfare of the veterans.
We go to the VA Hospital the 1st Monday of the month between noon and 3:00 PM. We are always open for new members, as this is a very rewarding experience for committee as well as the veterans. In November a hot lunch is on the agenda, Bingo again in December. If interested please contact Pat Rung at 847-356-9398 or any of the above mentioned persons.
